About AGA - Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery

What is AGA?

 

AGA is a scientific association of physicians interested in arthroscopy and companies active in this field. The AGA now has more than 4.700 members and is thus Europe’s largest professional society for arthroscopy.
The Executive Committee of the AGA includes physicians from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The goals of the AGA are:
• To help and encourage young arthroscopists
• To foster close contact and mutual exchange among physicians practising arthroscopy
• To establish contacts with other societies whose interests coincide or overlap
• To focus on practical issues in arthroscopy
• To promote quality control

What is the cost of AGA membership?

The annual membership fees (for the period 1 January to 31 December) are as follows:
Full membership:
EUR 95 or SFR 120
Junior membership (up to 28 years):
FREE (certificate of matriculation required)
Senior membership (from 65 years):
EUR 50 or SFR 55
Supporting membership (companies)

What are the benefits of AGA membership?

• A subscription to the journal Arthroskopie (four issues per year) plus online Version of Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery (AOTS)
• Reduced cost of admission to the annual AGA congress (3 days, autumn)
          (Junior and senior members: admission free of charge)
• Information about activities, training courses and technical developments; list of addresses of AGA instructors who accept trainees
• Grants for sponsorship and training of interested young physicians

Who can join the AGA?

• Any physician and scientists working in the field of arthroscopy and joint surgery interested in arthroscopy, regardless of discipline or nationality
• Companies that produce and/or distribute arthroscopic instruments and accessories   (supporting membership: annual fee on request)

Resignation from the AGA

Written notice of intention to resign from the AGA may be submitted to the Executive Committee only after payment of the membership fee for the current year. At least 3 months’ notice is required.
